Power 3. A Mad Feast of Power and Technique Begins

Part 1

The day of the battle between [Team Imperial Purpure] and [Team Spear of Heavenly Emperor]…

I, Hyoudou Issei, came to the floating city of Agreas in the land of House of Agares where the match is about to happen. That’s right, this city, which was taken from Qlippoth before, have turned into a spot for the battle once all the checks have completed to make sure it was safe.

Both the current and former members of ORC and student council decided to meet up and watch the match in the VIP room having prepared for this match.

With this place being the holy place of rating game, the normal seats were filled to the brim.

Amid all that, the announcer, Naud Gamigin-san, who is same one as ours, shouted louder than the audience.

Quick update since it’s been too long.

Well hello there folks.

It’s been long time so i would like to do this quick post to give a short update on what’s going on. i’ll probably delete this in next chapter update.

Yeah, i’ve been on holiday for quick long time now and the reason for tha is result of few things. First being i visited Korea for the first time in long time and second, i visited Japan with my family for the first time. I originally wanted to do a short blog about my trip to Japan but it turns out all i took photo of was the food…

Now back to the topic. I’ve been working on the next chapter of both DX4 and Inou Battle, however few things have caused me to delay in both of them. Obviousely the holiday was one, but another is that i’ve just moved house and currently got no solid internet. All i’ve got is mobile hotsopt which is… not too ideal to say and since my desktop is not connected by WI-Fi, i’m out o luck there.

Another major event in my life is that i’m going back to uni for (hopefully) my final year of university life, therefore i have been busy preparing for the new course which starts in two weeks time.

All this is basically me saying ‘yup, i haven’t done as much tl as i wanted this summer’. Sorry about that.

Regardless, the next chapter of DX4 is on the way and it will be complete very soon, same goes for the next Vol 5 Inou Battle chapter. We’ve started the next chapter of Vol 6 Inou Battle but that one will take time.

So expect an update of DxD and Inou Battle soon, but please don’t get your hopes up.

Cheers

daniel.

Another two bite the dust…

Phew, what a year has it been.

Thank you to everyone who’s been supporting me with the translations, and i do apologise for slower speed in TL this time, but a lot has been going through my life lately so only thing i can do right now is just apologising.

Finally, both DX3 and Inou Battle 1 has been translated! Man that’s quite a bit off my shoulders. As always, thank you to ZX Code Zero and Alexis for help along the way. Not to mention FirstAidTent and dragon-maou for the help with Inou Battle, took us awhile huh?

Now for DX4 and rest of Inou Battle. I will be translating them, but i will need to buy the books first. Inou Battle is easier since i can get it as EBook, but i will need to buy the physical DX4 so translation for DxD won’t start until late next month.

As for Inou Battle. We’re currently discussing how we will continue the TL, starting with Vol 2 or where anime has left off. If you are waiting for Inou battle, then don’t worry, I’m still on it.

Not that many people read it anyway, but the seasonal anime list i’ve done on what i’ve watched wasn’t posted for long time, and for now it won’t be a regular thing anymore. I just haven’t and can’t get the writing done regardless of what happens. Of course i’ll upload something like that time to time but it won’t be at the end of a season anymore, and again it’s not like people read it anyway so no loss there.

Anyway, that’s little update for you guys. thanks.

daniel.

Next Prologue

“Haaaa.”

After school, in the Student Council room, I let out a sigh. There’s no one but me in the room since there weren’t any meetings or plans to meet today, but since there was work left over, I decided to remain here.

It is a bit lonely with no one here.

Maybe it’s because of that feeling, but I ended up thinking about the members of the literature club, who are probably playing around lively right now.

“………”

Afterwords

When and who was the one that thought up things like ability names, techniques and aliases?

That was the kind of feeling I had when I first started writing this book. In fiction, several different terminologies appear, but to the author, most of them are probably compromises. For example, when a character from a battle manga uses a new finishing move, thoughts like ‘Eh? Did I think up such a stylish skill name?’ has struck anyone at least once in their life hasn’t it?

With that said, instead of fumbling over that part, I’ve decided to put great effort into describing this process. One of the main concept of this work is specifying, to the extent of my ability, who the authors of the used terminologies are. The names do not conveniently pop up in my mind or anything like that. The characters in the story all try their best diligently looking through dictionaries every night.

Afterword

It’s been awhile, Ichiei Ishibumi here. The Third instalment of short story series [DX] has finally come.

There wasn’t any limited edition on this time but to make up for it, there’s a lot of story in this volume. The legendary short story [Cross X Crisis] was also put into this volume as well.

Now let’s discuss each short story in this volume.

Life 4 Talents of the Student Council

“Ah Hyoudou-senpai.”

My first April after becoming a third-year student— during lunch time, a trio of three newcomer of the Student Council greeted me while I was spending my lunch time at the school ground of Khou academy.

First is a clerk and she is a third-year, Kamo Tadami-chan.

Kamo-chan had long braided hair. She is thin and is a long eyed third-year with a tall figure. She’s actually from an exorcist family. Around the Khou area, they are using their powers to exorcise spirits independently and are helping ordinary people around them.

Kamo-san took Mii-tan as his rival and it is said that those two have had fierce battles… I sometimes also think of measures against Mii-tan with Kamo-chan.

Life 3: Let’s Go with Training! ~Mascot Chapter~

This had happened when the members of ORC, including me, had gone to the underworld— to the Gremory household.

The payment earned by the Gremory peerage through fulfilling the request of our clients goes to the Gremory household and from time to time, we head to the castle to sort out and organise these items. After sorting them by their types, we put them inside the treasury that is under the castle.

Irina and Ravel, who are not part of Gremory peerage, also helps out but… I often ponder whether it would be a problem for Irina, who is an angel, to help us devils out. Well, the more the merrier.

Lunchtime of a certain day.

After buying a can of Black Coffee from the vending machine in front of the cafeteria, I began walking around while showing off as ‘someone who only drinks their coffee black’ towards the passer-by.

While aimlessly wandering around holding onto the can instead of putting it away in my pocket, I found Sayumi-san near a staircase.

She’s talking to an unfamiliar girl. I first assumed that she was her friend, but hostility between them said otherwise. I could feel the tension between them even from a distance.

After waiting for a moment the unfamiliar girl left and Sayumi-san heaved a tired sigh. I went over to her and inquired.

About Inou-Battle and story progression.

THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS
I saw on jcafe that someone commented saying it would be faster if the translation began where the anime has left off.

Now that’s a great idea. But there’s a problem with doing something like that and that problem prevents me from translating from where the anime has left off. The anime progression is completely different to light novel progression so far and sometimes outright omits part of the story (from top of my memory).

For example. Current chapter I’m translating right now follows a skit where Ando wants to draw a picture of Black Dragon on his arm, with different members following his little gag. This has never happened in anime, however this is a story which has happened quite early on in the light novel.

Second example second chapter of Vol 1 where Ando figures out that Tomoyo is (or was) Chuunibyou. This should be the part where Ando also learns that she is considering writing a light novel herself, but in the source material this has not happened yet. Moreover the following scene in the light novel shows Literature Club creating their own Alias which in anime, happened before Ando learns the truth about Tomoyo.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, that as much as I want to just continue where the anime has left off, there’s no way of knowing how many stories have been jumbled up across several volumes. Not only that we don’t truly know how many stories we will be missing out if I decide to translate from where anime has left off. Only way of making sure this doesn’t happen is by translating it from volume 1, work its way up until we catch upto latest release.

Hope you guys understand.

Daniel.
